About me

What motivates me and why I do the work I do?

I can boil it down to this short sentence: sustainability connection and action.

Although I haven’t followed a conventional path here (to be honest, I’m not sure there really is one), looking back that motivation has been constant throughout.

Here’s my potted history:

The smell of the greasepaint, the roar of the crowd

I started my career working in theatre, where I loved the live, high-impact experiences we created.

This is London calling

I worked for the BBC World Service, creating programmes that reached and connected with millions globally. I learnt about communication, teamwork, and high-pressure on-air environments.

Video killed the radio star

I also developed technical production skills – video (and audio) creation and editing (no one was hurt in the making of my videos).

My last role at the BBC was working with partners to get iPlayer onto smart TVs – I learnt about how to partner, negotiate and collaborate.

“Ooooh crap”

During this time I became very aware of the climate and ecological crisis, which led to questioning how to create meaningful change through work.

No planet B

I moved to a role at Bioregional, leading on the One Planet Living framework – and I saw the challenge of turning ambition into real-world action.

Build it and they will come!

At UK Green Building Council, I deepened my focus on learning, facilitation, and coaching; I designed programmes and led events across the built environment.

(lights), connections, actions!

And slowly I realised that what I love doing is helping people to connect, understand, and act on sustainability.

And now

That brings you up to date. I’m now freelance, pulling together all this experience and expertise to create and deliver learning; to facilitate great sessions; and to coach leaders. All so we can thrive well into the future on this one planet we call home.
